How to export your data from Fuelly and import it into Oilnote

About ten minutes per vehicle. You need a computer or a phone browser for the Fuelly part, and your iPhone for the Oilnote part.

1. Export from Fuelly

  1. Sign in at fuelly.com in a web browser. The export is on the website, not in the app.
  2. Open the vehicle's profile page.
  3. Scroll down to the Log Book section and choose Export Fuel-ups.
  4. Pick all fill-ups, or a date range, and save the .csv file.
  5. Do the same for each vehicle. Each one is its own file.

Fuelly's file has the vehicle name, the miles since the last fill-up, gallons, price per gallon, the fill-up date and notes, and on older exports the odometer.

2. Get the file onto your iPhone

Save it to iCloud Drive from the computer, or email it to yourself and save the attachment to Files. Oilnote opens it from the Files picker.

3. Import into Oilnote

  1. In Oilnote, open the vehicle the file belongs to (or add it first), then choose Import a CSV export.
  2. Pick the Fuelly file. Oilnote reads the header and shows which column it thinks is the date, the odometer, the fuel and the cost.
  3. Check the mapping. If a column is wrong, tap it and choose the right field.
  4. If the file has miles between fill-ups but no odometer, enter the odometer at your newest fill-up. The rest are counted back from it and marked as estimated.
  5. Check the dates. If Oilnote gets the day and month backwards, switch the date order at the top.
  6. Read the counts of what will be imported and what will be skipped, then tap Import.

Importing is part of the one-time purchase. If you are not sure your file will work, write to us before you buy.
